Joshua and I have our first pet together.
About three weeks ago Joshua and I had a little bit of extra cash, so we decided to get a pet. But not just any pet. We purchased a five month old Black Moor Fancy Goldfish. I have never cared for any type of fish before now, so much to my surprise there is way more to owning a fancy goldfish than one might expect.
We started off with a small, one gallon bowl for our fish. Huge mistake. Never, ever put your goldfish in a bowl, I learned this the hard way. Fortunately, the universe was on my side and after setting up the bowl I noticed some leakage, and ultimately a crack. We took the bowl back and exchanged it for a 10 gallon aquarium (it was cheaper than the bowl anyway) coupled with an adequate filter.
We named our little guy Ichthys, which is the Koine Greek word for fish. More specially, the name means to describe the Christian adopted symbol for the godfish. Ichthys is doing great in his tank and is even slowly learning to eat from my hand.
If you want to get into caring for Fancy Goldfish make sure that you are well informed before you make any purchases. A great place for help/information on Fancy Goldfish care can be found at SOLIDGOLD. This lady really knows what she is talking about when it comes to Goldfish.
